Does WebP keep PNG transparency?
Yes. WebP supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas survive the conversion.
Will the file be smaller than PNG?
For most images, yes — often dramatically for photographs. Pure line art may compress similarly in both formats.
Is the conversion lossless?
This tool encodes WebP lossily with a quality slider (default 0.92). TinyPNG-style quantization is not what this tool does — the goal is a smaller, shareable file.
